Columbus Adobe User Group is going strong

The Columbus area Adobe User Group is picking up steam again. They have been meeting regularly on Tuesday evening for the past couple of months. Michael Krotscheck has been heading things up and the group is now official again. There is a new site designed by the members, Columbus Digital. Make sure to check it out.

My host is upgrading to ColdFusion 8

I am pretty excited, my host will be upgrading to ColdFusion 8. I have been waiting to play around some more with some of the new features since I played with the beta. I will probably start working on some of the things I was doing for my WoW guild again as I had a signature creator in ASP.NET but would love to try it with ColdFusion.

Adam Lehman of Adobe to present CF8 at Columbus CFUG

Adam Lehman is going to be presenting on the new PDF and AJAX features of ColdFusion 8 on August 16th at 5:30 PM. I only wish I could attend but I have a prior engagement presenting on our eLearning initiatives at UPS.

ColdFusion 8 Ships

It is official, Adobe is shipping ColdFusion 8. I have been using ColdFusion 7 for a while now on my personal site and look forward to taking advantage of the great new features once my host makes it available. I just wish our IT department at my work moved a little bit faster. From what I hear, we might get on 7 the beginning of next year. Sometimes working for a trucking company that dabbles in technology can be painful.

New CFUG here in Columbus

There is a new ColdFusion User Group here in Columbus being lead by Andy Large. I am glad I checked my Adobe feeds this morning or I might have missed it. The first meeting is tonight at 5:30 PM. Check out the site:

ColdFusion Scorpio is in Adobe Labs

I am pretty excited about the next version of ColdFusion. Between the .NET integration, server monitoring and image manipulation, this version is looking like a very nice upgrade.

So try it out: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/coldfusion8/

Pulling World of Warcraft Armory data with Coldfusion

I help run my World of Warcraft guild site for my guild Redeemed. Recently I have added several pages that pull data from the newly available World of Warcraft Armory site. The Armory lists information about guilds including detailed character sheets. Over the next couple entries, I plan to show how to make use of some of that data with Coldfusion. This article will focus on where the data resides.
